There is plenty to do in the local area. The Newt in Somerset is only a 15-minute drive from the barn. The Newt is a reimagined country estate with beautiful grounds and gardens open to the public. The restaurant at the Newt offers a great menu of locally sourced produce as well as making their own cider on site and sourcing their own wine from their vineyards in South Africa.
Hauser and Wirth is a Bruton based art gallery and they also have a restaurant on site called Roth Bar and Grill. It is an extension of the famous eponymous London gallery and is again only a 15-minute drive. It is worth visiting to take a look around the old market town of Bruton and take the opportunity to eat some very well-prepared food and soak up some art and culture.
Yeovilton air museum is a 20-minute drive from the barn and is a great day for children and aircraft enthusiasts with aircrafts from a range of historic periods as well as offering guided tours. Being attached to an existing and in use military base really gives a sense of realism to the experience, it is well worth a visit.
If aircrafts are not really your style then Haynes Motor Museum is only a 10-minute drive from the barn. This is a car museum that literally has it all, from classic Ferrari 250’s to a Williams formula 1 car. It is one of the nation’s leading vintage car collections and is a striking visit for even those with a slight interest in cars.
We are also perfectly positioned amongst a wealth of stunning countryside to enjoy long walks and nature at its finest, with some other small villages, and lovely farm shops nearby there is plenty to see and do when you stay with us!
